B. Space Marines (Blood Ravens Chapter)

Kinda forgot what his list was, but he brought a meaty Librarian with Force Staff and some nice strength-augmenting powers. On top of that he loaded on Assault Marines and brought two Thunderhammer-swinging Terminators.

C. Tyranids (Hive Fleet Yar'Gamoth)

Believing in strength in numbers, the Bug player brought a ton of stuff on the table, including a Brooldlord, few Genestealers, Warriors and a Pyrovore, not to mention a nasty Zoanthrope. He also had lots of little guys for the Imperials to test their aim at, including a pack of Gargoyles.

The Swarm advances...

"Ebenhard VII burned. All across the globe the Tyranids were making their push, exterminating all life. Ussos has been saved, after a day of hard fighting, but the Xenos horrors were still advancing. Adept-Majoris Ulis Wellen, together with the planet's Astropathic Choir, detected a huge spike in the Immaterium, originating some 30 miles from the Capital. Inquisitor Namir Ralok gathered a few of his operatives and requested aid from the Blood Ravens chapter in investigating the mysterious phenomena. Arriving at the area, the Imperials quickly discovered the source of the disturbance - a living, psychic bomb planted by the Swarm with the intent of overloading the brain of every human Psyker on the planet. Without preambule, Ralok ordered the attack against bomb's guardians. This engagement could have very well prove to be the most important of all in this war."

Turn 1:

The Nids are preparing to advance upon the puny humans. Ever hungry and voracious, the Xenos knew that they had to keep Imperials in place long enough for the psychic bomb to detonate.

Meanwhile Namir Ralok orders his charges to take positions and prepare to fight for their lives. Hive Gangers in his service hissed, as the slow working neuro-toxins were pumped into their bloodstreams from a special dispensers, built into their slave collars. Unless they'd manage to defeat the enemy, the slowly working toxin would kill them in the most excruciating way possible. Namir Ralok always liked to motivate his underlings in a correct and efficient way. The Assault Marines of the mysterious Blood Ravens chapter readied their weapons, silently mouthing their oaths of moment.

Ralok alongside his Psyker Coven and a band of hive-dregs pressed into his service. The Blood Ravens sent two Assault Marines to cover the haughty Inquisitor, something that he found irritating.

Pyrovore takes aim at the forces of the Emperor. The Gargoyles and Gaunts spring forward, protected by the Venomthrope's noxious fumes.

Turn 2:

The Gangers rushed towards the Great Devourer's left flank, supported by a few Blood Ravens Space Marines with Jump Packs. Meanwhile Namir Ralok unloaded his Combi-Bolter into a Gene Stealer pack, killing a single Xeno horror.

Ralok's Acolytes, Ios and Vulgata braved the onslaught of Flesh Borers and Bio-plasma in order to secure a position on the Imperium's right flank. The Hive Gangers were not so lucky and two of the burned in biological fire, as the Warrior's horrible, living weapon found its mark.
Turn 3:
The Emperor was with Ios and Vulgata this day, when they've emerged from their cover and shot down every, single Gargoyle with their Bolters, with a little help from the Wyrdvane Psykers, occupying nearby ruins.Meanwhile Arvuel Ezrah Kane, the "Lord of Storms", swooped down on his jump pack into the heart of the Swarm, dispensing righteous justice and retribuition with every swing of his Force Staff. From his outstretched hand a cone of psychic fire engulfed nearby Tyranids, burning them to cinders. Nearby a strange, hazy mist appeared on the battlefield. A shape coalesced in it, and in a matter of seconds the first of the Blood Ravens Terminators manifested on the battlefield, auto senses scanning for targets. The Swarm was reeling, but it was far from dead.

Turns 4 and 5:

More Hive Dregs got ripped to pieces by Termagaunts fleshboring weapons as they've covered "Ariadna", who sprinted towards the Xeno bomb, her orders clear: defuse it by overloading its psychic cortex with her own, exceptional powers. On the Imperium's left flank, the Assault Marines dispatched a pack of ever-hungry Gaunts with Chainswords and Boltpistols.

The Zoanthrope unleashed a barrage of pure, psychic force, intended to overload "Ariadna's" brain, but the pysker's conditioning saved her life. Meanwhile Ezrah Krane and two Terminators moped up the rest of the Tyranid heavy hitters, a force of pure strength and zeal. Namir Ralok unleashed the fury of his attached Melta weapon upon one of the Warriors, but the beast avoided the deadly blast, even tough it was already wounded by a burst of fire from "Ariadna's" Auto-rifle. Seeing that the Imperials secured their bio-bomb, the rest of the Swarm fell back. The day has been won for the Emperor!
Battle summary and a bonus pic!

"Arvuel Ezrah Krane walked slowly towards the Inquisitor Ralok, his Force Staff humming quietly with barely contained power. It server him well once again. Krane lost count of how many times it saved his life, like back on Occarm Secundus, during the duel with the Thousand Sons Sorcerer. He recalled that the Heretic had the audacity to call him a brother! For that blasphemy, Krane made sure that his ashes ended up scattered on the four winds. He approached the place where Ralok was speaking quietly with the woman, "Ariadna". Krane was surprised that she survived the Xenos Psyker's attack, her only sign of fatigue being a minor nose bleed. For a mere human she certainly was an exceptional mind-warrior, just as the clandestine Namir Ralok. Upon seeing the armoured warrior approaching, the two mortals ceased their whispered conversation. Nearby a squad of Guardsmen were in the process of loading the bio-bomb onto a Chimera. - Inquisistor! - called the Librarian. - Well met, "Lord of Storms" - replied Ralok, moving towards the hulking Psyker. - You and your brethren have the eternal gratitude of the Holy Ordos - he said with a mirthless smile, his augmetic right arm moving towards the microbead, logged in his ear. - Thank you Inquisitor, but I'd like to know where are you taking that Xeno abomination - Krane inclined his head towards the Chimera. - I'm sure you would Astartes, but it will have to wait - replied Ralok. - I've just recieved a transmission from the Capital. It looks like the Great Devourer is sending some heavy duty troops towards our positions. Our forces are ready to repell them on the outskirts of Urros, but the size of the Swarm is troubling. We must return to the city with all haste! - his manner and tone were undoubtedly serious. Krane nodded his head and walked towards the nearby Thunderhawk, making a silent oath to confront Namir Ralok about his "activities" later, when there will be less pressing concerns."

So that was it. I'm sorry (again!) for the big delay in posts, but real life and its problems got to me and thus made me unable to contribute in a manner that I've wished to. This also marks the first change in this blog - I'll update it once every two weeks, with further possibility of monthly updates. Such is life, I'm afraid and there's really nothing I can do about it. Fear not, for I will not let the rains of Nuln to stop pouring down. I will continue to write for as long as possible and nothing will stop me. Except maybe GW's lawsuit, but I haven't recieved one yet, so there is still hope.

Oh and yes, I do remember that I have two more "End Times" posts to write. I will do the core units summary next time, I think. It's just that... Well, it's the "End Times" we're talking about. It's like writing about one's anal evacuation. This is not something that anyone would like to return to.

Until next time!

Bonus pic!

Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you the man of the match, the Blood Ravens Librarian who've just finished annihilating a rather large force of Tyranids beasties, all on his own. Every, single dead Nid on this picture ended its misreable life at the end of Arvuel Ezrah Krane's Force Staff. What a guy!
