Steeming the tide: Astra Militarum and Adeptus Astartes take on the might of the Great Devourer!

Last weekend I've played my biggest game of WH40K yet, in which two imperial armies clashed against some Nids in a Last Stand scenario. The game took almost 9 hours from start to finish and was packed with pure awesomesauce. We've arranged a Last Stand mission from the "Stronghold Assault" supllement. Blood Ravens and Imperial Guard, each at 1500 pts., fought against the Tyranid Swarm, which was 3000 points strong. The game ended after 5 turns with the Imperials amassing 18-19 points, while the Bugs gathered a total of 11. Anyway: here's the full report with some nice pictures. Also it will be the first of a few linked bat reps, that will compose a narrative campaign of sorts, so stay tuned for more. As an added bonus, the report will be dramatized... a bit. The Great Devourer hungers! 1. Our armies A. Imperial Guard (1500 pts.) HQ: CCS with Mortar, 2 x Sniper Rifles and an Officer of the Fleet. Warlord Trait: Old Grudges (which I...

It's Kill Team time! Tyranids vs Imperial Guard, 250 points

Before we dive into some ratty goodness of "End Times: Thanquol", let's take a small brake and explore the wonderful world of Kill Team, courtesy of always excellent Heralds of Ruin. This is my third Kill Team game and the second one that I was playing against Tyranids. My friend Chris, who got his baptism by fire while fighting against Orks, was up for the challenge and so we prepared our lists and got to work. The game was played at 250 points, standard for Kill Team. We've rolled for the sabotage scenarion, and Chris decided to attack my well entrenched Guardsemn, who were defending a couple of field-stricken Chimeras. Obviously Chris is new to this game, as not only he was attacking me, but also provided my forces with some homemeade (and totaly awesome!) Aegis Defence Line fortifications, which he made himself! How cool is that? Bitchin! I really need to finally paint it tough... As for our lists there were some changes from the last game. Last ...

Baby's first Kill Team, or why it pays not to be assaulted

Yesterday I had a killer game of Kill Team with two of my friends, and let me tell you: it was awesome! For those of you who don't know, Kill Team is a small skirmish game, based on the rules of Warhammer 40K, but with a couple of twists, First of all most units are treated individually, even those who are in squads. This means that finally we have a game, where it is possible to target different opponents with different guys. The games are obviously rather smallish. Usually the army will be worth 250 points and consist of no more than 20 models. There are almost no vehicles and the whole thing is like a 40K version of Mordheim which is really cool. Oh and just FYI I am talking about the Heralds of Ruin version of Kill Team, not the GW one, which I find to be rather inbalanced. I'll post the adress to the HoR website at the end of this article. Be sure to visit and check out their stuff. It's really great and shows how much worth is a true dedication to one's hob...
