Dancing on the edge of a new life

Image
A small upadte from me, as I'm getting ready for my flight to Armenia. In a few days from now I'll be starting a new chapter of my life. In less than a week I'm getting married. Not gonna lie, I am stressed a bit, but also insanely happy. This will be a whole new experience, and I'm very, very glad to share it with the woman of my life. Life's good sometimes! Given the importance of this event I wanted to also take stock of my hobby endeavors, and to thank a couple of people, without whom I would not be where I am today. Artwork by Baron Von Klatz, whom I also wanted to thank for being a fantastic sport! First of all I want to thank my beloved fiancee, Lia. You're the best that ever happened to me baby, never forget about that. I love you forever and a day. I wanted to thank Marcin and Krzysiek for sticking with me for the last decade. Without you guys I would probably not remained in this fantastic hobby, and it's great to have you as my ...

A quick update on what is going on. Also – some major life changes incoming!

As I'm waiting for a certain interview to be finally finalized, I've decided to make a quick sit rep of what is currently going on with my RPG-related activities. There's is quite going on! A lot, in fact. My IRL weekly Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay group is going strong, as we plow through the classic tale of "The Enemy Within". This is our last foray into the 2nd edition of WFRP, as the 4th is just so much better in almost every way possible (great job Cubicle 7!). Still, the wacky humor, the shenanigans, the sense of mild paranoia and secrecy - these are the hallmarks of our playstyle, and they truly make for some excellent experience. The gang is currently visiting Bogenhafen during the infamous Shaffenfest, and they've already left one of their own to tender mercies of the local Sigmarite clergy. Good times... After all, they're known for the compassion and forgiving nature... My biweekly Roll20 WFRP group from the States is having a hard time...

My honest thoughts about the collector's edition of "The Enemy Within". Also - "Kalevala Hammer" is 12 years old!

Image
"The Enemy Within" is the quintessential WFRP campaign, and one that almost every, single fan of the franchise knows by heart. Now it's going to recieve a special, collector's edition for the 4th iteration of the game. First things first, however. Kalevala Hammer, one of the best Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay sites, is 12 years old! How time flies. I remember reading Jackdays' excellent addons at the beginning of my GM career, and his work has greatly influenced my gaming style. Jack is such an awesome dude, that he even published my fan-made WFRP sourcebooks, not too long ago. Here's to him and his fantastic website . May it continue to inspire and help more people in the future Happy birthday! As for the "TEW" Collector's Edition - it looks awesome. It's beautifully made and full of additional goodies. Aside from the 5 campaign books, it will also contain 5 new companion books, full of authors' commentaries, new plot hooks, new ...

It's time for the last interview of 2018. David Guymer answers all of my questions!

Image
I can safely say that 2018 was very for me. Although the full summary will be written soon, I'd just like to say that I'm most happy for the bunch of interviews that I've managed to secure this year. Now it's time to present you to the last one - with David Guymer. Mr. Guymer has written a bunch of fantastic stories. He's the man who has finished the Slayer saga and pushed it into the Age of Sigmar with the "Realmslayer" audiobook, in which Gotrek is voiced by Brian Blessed himself! He's also a real Skaven aficionado and his portrayal of the Iron Warriors in "The Beast Arises" series is simply awesome. On top of all of that, he also penned the "Ferrus Manus: Gorgon of Medusa" book for the "Horus Heresy: Primarchs" series! I was very lucky to have Mr. Guymer answer a couple of my questions and so here they are, for all of you to enjoy. This is one, fine-looking cover! Xathrodox86:  I will start with a rather ob...

The reckoning is coming. Here's an interview with Ed Hall!

Image
You all know that I'm a huge Warhammer buff. That said, there's one setting which is even closer to my heart - the Classic World of Darkness. When it comes to its many splats, I've always adored Hunter: The Reckoning the most. I will write an entire post about my all-encompassing love towards H:TR, but for now let's just say that I'm all about the common folk, facing off against the myriad terrors of the night. I've always rooted for the underdogs and the Imbued, as the hunters of this setting are known, perfectly encapsulate this term. That said, I will write a legthy post about this game, as well as the Classic World of Darkness in general, in the near future. I have so many great memories, associated with this logo I was very lucky to be able to interview Ed Hall, one of the original creators of Hunter: The Reckoning. He's an incredibly nice man who was patient enough to answer all of my fan-fuelled questions, and there were a lot of them! You ...

Grimvember 2017 is here! It's time for an interview with Clint Lee Werner!

Image
Here's something for all of the fans of ruthless bounty hunters, killers of witches and Grey Seers - an interview with a man, who writes and understand such character better than anyone, Clint Lee Werner himself. I always loved the anti-hero trope. Not for me were the goody-two-shoes kind of characters, whose only problems revolve around their immaculate, shiny armor and magical swords of slaying goblins +2. I guess that's why I always liked Warhammer Fantasy so much (well, except for a short period of time, as some of you may know). This world is full of heroes who, in most other fantasy settings, could be even described as villains. Hell, even Gotrek and Felix are far from being a crystal clear duo of characters, what with their murder hobo kind of approach to many problems. Of course they are still the good guys and the readers know it. When it comes to Brunner the Bounty Hunter and Witch Finder Mathias Thulmann, however, things are not so simple. Is this a face of a ...

An early holiday present: surprise interview with William King!

Image
Holidays are coming, but on my little slice of internet they're already here. I present to you an interview with one of the biggest legends of fantasy writing - William King. Now before you'll read the interview itself, I just wanted to say that for me, getting interested in Warhammer would be impossible without the classic "Gotrek and Felix" series, about the infamous Old World duo. Before that I only really knew a bit of elven lore and... that was prestty much it. After reading the first two omnibuses however, I've understood that there is so much more to Warhammer Fantasy, than just army book. Novels, short stories, the classic RPG's - it all became known to me, beacuse many years ago I've decided to pick up two big books in a bookstore in London, and give them a go. It was a choice that I've never regretted. So I wanted to say: thank you Mr. King. Thank you for bringing so many people into this hobby with your talent and writing skill. We owe you...

A WFRP 30th anniversary special: an interview with Graeme Davis

Image
Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay celebrates its 30th anniversary this year, so I wanted to commemorate it in some appropriate manner. Fortunately, thanks to a gaming buddy (thanks Andy!), I've managed to land an interview with one of the original game's creators, Graeme Davis himself. It's really short, but for a WFRP geek like myself, who grew up with the game and had so much experience with it, both good and bad, this is a huge thing and a huge honor. Happy birthday WFRP! Without further ado, here's the whole thing. Enjoy. Xathrodox86: Which edition of Warhammer Fantasy did you enjoyed working on the most? Graeme Davis: First edition, definitely. For the others I was a freelancer working at home on material that others had created, but for first edition I was deep in the creative craziness that was the GW Design Studio in the 80s. It was a unique time and place and a unique team, and a fantastic experience for me. Xathrodox86: How big was your input in the...
