Wow, what a day! I've just read that Jackdays, who's running the fantastic Warhammer Fantasy website Kalevala Hammer, has published my three unofficial sourcebooks for this venerable game! I've created these three addons with the help of Hectorius  (thank you so much!), who was very active on the, now sadly gone, Strike to Stun forums. Without him, proofreading my work and giving me lots odf great ideas, I'd never send them to Jack (who also worked on my, not so perfect English, as well as offering me lots of awesome advice. This post was supposed to be about the movie "Black Death", starring Sean Bean, but I've decided to go for a slightly more optimistic tone this time. Especially since last time it was a trip to depression city with my previous post. Delta Green... oh man, where do I begin? Ha! I know! It's the best RPG that I've played in the last 5 years. Yeah, I've just said it. I've tested a bunch of new systems over the course of a lot couple of years, including the Aegis Project and the Apocalypse World, but none have made such a strong impression on me, as Delta Green. There are a few official WFRP scenarios that I really like. Most of them have been written for the 1st edition of the game, and "Eureka!" by Paul Hargreaves is no exception. It first appeared in the 93rd issue of White Dwarf and was later included in "The Restless Dead" anthology. It's a favorite adventure of mine, as it's simple, tense and has that classic WFRP humor which really distinguished the very first edition of the game. Welcome to the 80's. Welcome to the third edition of Grimvember, where I review my favorite WFRP modules - both official and fan-made. Let's kick this year's grim & dark event with a look at "Chaos in the Rye" by Jeff Mason. I've GM'ed this adventure at the beginning of this year. It was sort of a prelude to the "Thousand Thrones" campaign that we're currently playing. Well, a prelude is perhaps too big a word. Simply put, I wanted a short scenario between "Terror in Talabheim" and the "TTT". Did "Chaos in the Rye" managed to satisfy my snobbish taste? I really dig that climactic art. I'm a huge fan of the White Wolf's Classic World of Darkness. I love the lore, I love the characters and I love the overgrown metaplot. Since I have a few fan-made addons for CWoD laying on my HD, I've decided to share them with a wider world. Of all my RPG collections, this one is certainly the smallest of all. It's hard to find any, remaining old World of Darkness fansites, those from the really old day. Many of them Geocities-based and many other were closed, due to legal reasons, even if not all of the materials that were available on them, were illegal. Let's end this year's Grimvember with a bang. So far I've only reviewed scenarios and campaigns, but now I'll take a closer look at a sourcebook of sorts - the "Order of the Feathered Lord" by Sami Uusitalo. Every scenario is only as good as its villain, or maybe that's just my opinion. Anyway, I love a well-written bad guy in my adventures. Boring, one-dimensional villains are usually more harmful to the overall structure of the scenario, than they're to the PC's themselves. Fortunately the "Order of the Feathered Lord" presents gamemasters with a right bunch of evil a-holes, who are incredibly well written and very cool to use in almost any game of WFRP. We return to our regularly scheduled reviewing, this time with "A Secret Inheritance" by Steve Cumiskey. This one's a real treat and no mistake. I've GM'ed this adventure last year for my Roll20 group. The boys were on a trip from Talabecland to Nuln and, along the way, I wanted to spice things up a bit for their little gang. "A Secret Inheritance" turned out to be exactly what I needed! Plus it's full of Merchants! Who dosen't like economy themes in his adventures? The premise is pretty simple. The adventurers need to find a shelter from a storm, in a small town of Eisental and become embroiled in a local guild affair. The town itself, originally located in Ostermark (altough you could place it anywhere. In my case it was in Talabecland) is a quiet community, which recently lost its two priests. Some time ago I've decided to share a bunch of fan-made materials for WFRP. Now it's time for my 40K RPG's resource collection. I've played a couple of FFG's role-playing games, set in the grim darkness of the far future. Despite a rocky start (a shitty player was its cause), from the perspective of time I consider them good games. Sure they have a number of flaws, but all in all they're very decent titles and work well in introducing others to the universe of Warhammer 40,00. Not to mention that the Dark Heresy is a perfect way of showing people that the galaxy of 40K is more than just "only war". It's also about looking fabulous, even in a heavy rain! But I digress. How time flies! The great Kalevala Hammer website is now decade old! I still remember the first time, when I discovered Jackday's awesome website. His various timelines (including the one from Gotrek & Felix series), creature PDF's and the wonderful Norsca sourcebook, have helped me many times, during my time as a WFRP Gamemaster. After the end of the controversial 3rd edition, Kalevalahammer was one of the lone islands of light in the void, keeping the flame alive. Happy birthday! When I myself felt that Warhammer Fantasy was not for me anymore, it was Kalevala Hammer, among other things, that helped me find my passion, once again. I've been regularly playing RPG's since late 2008. For me it all started with Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay, a classic title and one with a huge following. During the course of my long and ilustrious career as a Gamemaster (don't like being a player, sorry), I've decided to collect as many fan-made material, as possible, for every system that I've ran. This includes Warhammer 40,000 RPG's, classic World of Darkness and, of course, the venerable WFRP. For that last title I have undoubtedly the biggest collection of freebie goodies, which "weighs" 3 gigabytes and consists of nearly 2000 files. All are catalogued, labeled and sorted in their respective directories. There are fan-made materials for all 3. editions of Warhammer Fantasy RPG, something that can be interesting to anyone, who's a fan of the Old World (and beyond!). There's artwork there, as well!
